As I continue to go through my own personal health and fitness journey, I've come to understand that continuing on this journey is 90% mental. I can't speak for those who have always made fitness a part of their lives, but as someone who spent years overweight and unhealthy, I think it comes down to preparing yourself mentally.
The tools are there. I'm a huge fan of Beachbody and its products. Why? Because their programs work. They work because they're good, they offer unbelievable support, and they even work with you on your health and nutrition. So what makes some people more successful than others in achieving their goals? Mental fitness.
Here's what I did. I jumped feet first into Beachbody, and I began to soak up everything they offered. I made a commitment to exercising and eating healthy for six weeks. If I didn't see results after six weeks, I would give it another look and determine what my next step would be. But guess what happened? I saw results. GREAT results!
So, I want you to make a commitment to yourself. Log onto my website at www.beachbodycoach.com/JaniceE and select one of the many workouts programs available. I'll even help you select the best one for you if you're overwhelmed. Then, I want you join the Team Beachbody Club and take advantage of the nutrition tools, fitness tools, and trainer tips. Finally, commit to the program for 90 days. I promise you WILL see results.
Join me on The Purposeful Journey and leave the overweight and unhealthy crowd in the dust once and for all.
Be well,

Fitness for Everybody
Many of us struggle with our weight and the seemingly impossible task of getting fit and healthy. There are many workouts out there but none are better than the workouts at Beachbody. I have used many of them, and I've even developed my own hybrid workout that I enjoy.
Tony Horton, the creator of P90X (the #1 fitness program in the country, thank you very much), has developed a new series of workouts called One on One. Beginning in July, new subscribers to this monthly series can get "Cardio Intervals" for $.01. That's right. One penny! Along with the Cardio Intervals DVD you will get a DVD called Pay it Forward. In this workout, Tony takes a man who weighs 400 pounds through a workout proving that, with some determination and some modifications, anyone can get a good workout.
If a man weighing 400 pounds can commit to start living a fit and healthy lifestyle, so can you. I would be honored to help YOU become the fit and healthy person I know you can be. Go to my website at www.beachbodycoach.com/JaniceE and click on "products" to reserve your copy of the latest Tony Horton's One on One "Cardio Intervals" workout. You'll get a great workout, a bonus CD AND me as your Coach all for one penny! What a deal, right?

Motivation
A few days ago a friend of mine asked me to work with her on her fitness journey. One of the first questions I ask someone who wants my help is "what are your goals"? I've had this conversation with a few friends and friends of friends recently, and I'm always intrigued by the answers.
For most of us the answer to that question is usually along the lines of "I want to lose weight", "I want to fit into my skinny jeans", "I want to be able to run with my kids". As I continue on my own Purposeful Journey, I'm finding that in order to maintain and continue my success, my goals need to be more internal. By that I mean I need to focus on how good I feel after I complete a tough workout. My cholesterol, blood pressure, trigylcerides, and glucose levels have returned to normal, and I owe that to my fitness and clean eating.
Those internal voices can serve as a motivator and a detractor if you're not careful. I've reached the point in my progress where people are noticing the changes, and that negative voice is getting louder and louder. Sometimes the attention scares me, and I find myself sabotaging my own progress. This has been an "a ha" moment for me, and I can proudly say I am able to quiet those negative thoughts. For those who know me well, this is a BIG step in my progress.
So...how do I do it? Well, for starters I call on those people whom I have set up to be my accountability buddies and lean on them for support and encouragement. None of us is perfect, and it's not a crime to tell a close friend or loved one that you need to be talked down from the bridge, so to speak.
Secondly, I lean on my role as an Independent Beachbody Coach to keep me on my program. I take my role as a Coach very seriously, and the last thing I want to do is let down those who look to me for advice. At first I thought I couldn't be a Coach because I hadn't reached my goal. But, my Coach, Keith, convinced me that I could do it because I'm walking the walk. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Keith. Walking the walk gives me insight into what people experience when they feel weight loss is futile.
Are you struggling with your weight? Do you want to get that monkey off your back and get into the best shape of your life? Do you want to see what you're really capable of doing? Go to www.teambeachbody.com/JaniceE and send me an email. Let's talk about your goals and get you started on your own Purposeful Journey.

FDA Recalls Hydroxycut
The big health news of the day is not the swine flu. The FDA has recalled Hydroxycut effective immediately because it can cause liver failure. You've all seen those ads in the magazines, and you've seen the variations of their products on the store shelf promising "quick" results. Guess what, folks? Hydroxycut and other products like it simply don't work. It's a quick fix that will accomplish very little except possibly putting your life in danger. As someone who has battled a weight problem most of my life, I can tell you what DOES work....
A consistent exercise program comprised of cardio and strength training.
Eat 5-6 small meals every 2-3 hours.
Drink plenty of water.
Surround yourself with like-minded, positive people
I got all of this and more when I found Beachbody products and Beachbody Coaching. It changed my life physically, emotionally and financially. I have made changes in my life I would never have had the courage to change without the emotional strength I developed by immersing myself into all things Beachbody. The friendships I've made are very special, and the confidence and encouragement I get from them can't be put into words.
Take it from someone who has lived her life trapped inside the "fat" Janice. Don't waste your money or your time on products like Hydroxycut. Don't risk your life. Have one more talk with yourself and tell yourself "I am worth it" because you are. Tell yourself "I can do this" because you can.
Take that next step. Go to www.teambeachbody.com/JaniceE and browse through the many products Beachbody makes available. If you have any questions, please send me a message.
Here's to good health!

P90X - Bring It!!!!
After completing one round of Chalean Extreme, a Beachbody workout comprised of strength training, I knew I was ready for something more. Logically, the next best thing is P90X. Tony Horton has developed one of the most amazing programs. In fact, it is currently the #1 best selling exercise program in America. It's also the number one workout in WOWY, Beachbody's online gym.
Last Monday was my first night doing P90X....Core Synergistics, to be exact. Surprisingly, I was able to keep up with most of the exercises, although I had to do a few modifications. The next morning, I woke up to feel muscles I didn't even know I had! What a feeling!! Now I understand why so many fellow coaches and Facebook friends are so in love with this program.
Not only did it challenge me physically, but it also challenges me mentally. How many workouts do that? None that I know of, and I've tried many of them. If you're a seasoned exerciser, give P90X a try. If you're not, Beachbody has many terrific programs you can do to prepare you to Bring It!!
If you have any questions about P90X or Beachbody in general, go to www.teambeachbody.com/JaniceE and click on Search for Products. Whatever exercise regimen you do, give it your all. You are capable of so much more than you think you are!
Have a great day!

The Premiere Blog
Welcome to my blog, The Purposeful Journey! This blog is for you as much as it is for me. As someone who has struggled with excess weight and the accompanying self-esteem issues for a large part of my life, I want this to be a place of hope because my story has a happy ending.
Getting healthy and maintaining that good health is a journey....a purposeful journey. It can take a long time to get there, the road may wind, but it's filled with excitement, enthusiasm, setbacks, sadness, joy, and success. It is my choice to never reach the end of my journey. I am excited about it and my future. My goals are many, and I know now there is nothing I can't do once I set a goal and work toward it.
So how did I start on my journey? It was a health scare. Sadly I wasn't the type of woman who could decide to get fit and healthy without being pushed into it. Admit it, some of you are experiencing that now. Once the bad news settled in, I knew what I had to do. As I drove home from the doctor, copies of my test results sitting on the passenger seat beside me, I decided life would change. It HAD to or I wouldn't survive. Literally.
When I got settled at home, I went to the cabinet that housed my Beachbody workouts that I hadn't played much less used for my workous. I pulled out Shaun T's Hip Hop Abs, popped the DVD into my player, and began moving with Shaun T and the crew. It was difficult to get through that first workout, but I DID IT! The funniest thing happened.....I was smiling! Can you imagine smiling and actually ENJOYING exercise? Me?? Yes. Me. Later that night, I sat down and journaled everything I was feeling. I symbolically buried the old Janice and began working on the new and improved Janice.
Can any of you relate to my story so far? I know there are many of you out there. Men and women struggling with excess weight, lonlieness, fear, resignation that you'll never be thin. I'm here to tell you it's possible. You are capable of so much more than you think you are. You are worth it, and I'm here to help YOU on your very own Purposeful Journey.
